Multi-Engine - Multi-engine airplanes give you an added level of safety when flying, especially over the water or rugged terrain. Most of your flight training will be learning how to control the airplane with one engine inoperative. Understanding multi-engine performance and aerodynamics is crucial in the making of a safe and competent multi-engine pilot.
There are no minimum number of hours for the multi-engine (unless of course, you are getting your Private in a twin). From my experience, 15 hours is the average time to get the rating. It helps of course if you're current in singles and have been flying often.
